Foster Program Announcement!

We are thrilled to announce that SAFe Rescue has been awarded a $20,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support our rescue foster program!

This Petco Foundation investment will help save more lives by making it possible for us to grow and strengthen the foster program. By increasing recruitment, we can find more fosters and save more lives. Additionally, by supporting our fabulous foster families by offering specialized trainings, our rescue can empower them to have a bigger impact for the most at-risk populations of felines.

As part of our exciting new focus on fostering, this spring we are welcoming Anna Sernau as SAFe Rescue’s first ever Foster Coordinator. “Meowy” big thanks to the Petco Foundation for helping make it possible to create this key position and take the next step towards building our foster program!

Anna has over a decade of experience working in zoos, wildlife rehab centers, and animal shelters in the United States and Canada. She earned her B.S. in Animal Behavior from Indiana University in 2016. A recent transplant to the PNW, Anna shares her home with her cat Pippin, a rambunctious and friendly 3-year-old tom. She is excited to be working with SAFe Rescue and with all our wonderful foster parents!

Please join us at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday June 29 at the Holman Road Petco store for our Be A Foster event and grant award celebration. If you’ve been thinking about becoming a foster, this will be the purr-fect opportunity to learn more!
