Stay SAFe Pet Pantry

The Stay SAFe Pet Pantry collects donated pet food and supplies and provides supplemental assistance to low-income pet owners and families experiencing economic hardship. Our goal is to help keep pets healthy, cared for, and in the homes that love them. Each year, the Pet Pantry distributes thousands of pounds of food and other supplies to hundreds of families and pets in need.

We distribute food and supplies in two ways: Monthly Supply Pickups, available once every 30 days by scheduled appointment, and Drop-By Hours, held every Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Seattle Area Feline Rescue.

Monthly Supply Pickups are intended to provide a larger, supplemental supply of food and other necessities and allow us to work more closely with you on specific requests. Drop-By Hours are designed for smaller amounts of basic supplies to help get you and your pets through the week.

Because the Stay SAFe Pet Pantry relies entirely on donations from our community, the amount and types of supplies we have available are always changing. We cannot guarantee specific items, brands, or types of food, but we will always make a good faith effort to provide what you need or offer a reasonable substitute whenever possible.

In Need of Food or Supplies

Come to the Rescue (located at 20226 Ballinger Way N.E. Shoreline, WA) on Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for “Drop-By Hours” and we’ll help you with basic supplies while you ‘shop’ through our selection of various items we have available. Alternatively we have an online application (located on the page below) that allows community members to make requests for more specific items and receive supplemental assistance on a monthly basis.

The following types of supplies may be available, depending on what has been donated:

  • Food (wet, dry, prescription*, etc.)
  • Leashes, harnesses, and collars
  • Litter, litter boxes, and pee pads
  • Hard and soft body carriers
  • Treats and toys
  • Flea treatments, supplements, and hygiene items
  • Etc.

*We’re only able to assist with prescription cat food. We cannot supply prescription dog food.

Please note that while we offer all of the above items, we rely entirely on donations, and sometimes the need for these items outpaces supply. Items that are provided on a consistent basis are meant to be supplemental and may not meet the full needs of your pets. We cannot guarantee specific items or brands will always be available. However we will do our absolute best to work with you to ensure that your pets are well cared for. We’re all in this together!

If you have questions or need any assistance, please contact us via email at support@seattleareafelinerescue.org or leave a message at (206) 582-2622 and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Rules and Guidelines

To help us make the best use of the donated supplies available to our community, we ask everyone utilizing the Stay SAFe Pet Pantry to follow these guidelines:

  • Food and supplies are available through Monthly Supply Pickups once every 30 days and through Drop-By Hours on Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Please do not come to the Rescue outside of Drop-By Hours unless you have a scheduled Supply Pickup appointment. We will not be able to provide supplies outside of these times.
  • The food and supplies provided by the Stay SAFe Pet Pantry are intended to be supplemental. Seattle Area Feline Rescue should not be the sole provider of your pets’ food or supplies.
  • We can provide supplemental assistance for up to five (5) animals per household, in any combination of cats and dogs. We occasionally receive supplies for other small animals, but these donations are uncommon and availability is limited.
  • While receiving assistance from the Stay SAFe Pet Pantry, you agree not to actively search for or acquire additional pets. We cannot provide assistance for additional animals acquired while utilizing our services.
  • We ask that you make a good faith effort to have the pets in your care spayed or neutered unless there is a legitimate medical reason preventing them from being altered. We reserve the right to discontinue assistance if we believe a good faith effort is not being made.
  • The Stay SAFe Pet Pantry relies entirely on donations. Because of this, we cannot guarantee specific items, brands, flavors, formulas, or types of food. We will always make a good faith effort to accommodate requests and provide reasonable substitutes when possible, but demand for certain items frequently exceeds our available supply.
  • Supplemental assistance is available for owned pets only. We cannot provide Pet Pantry supplies for stray or feral animals or animals you are fostering on behalf of another individual or organization.
  • Someone else may pick up supplies on your behalf as long as arrangements have been made with a staff member ahead of your scheduled appointment.
  • If you have previously completed a Supply Request Application, please do not submit another application unless instructed to do so. Current clients can contact us with a list of the supplies they are requesting and we will work with you to schedule a pickup.
  • Supply Pickup appointments are often booked one to two weeks in advance, and we cannot provide emergency supplies on short notice. Please plan ahead when requesting your next pickup.
  • If you cannot make your scheduled appointment, it is your responsibility to contact us before your appointment so that we can help you reschedule. If you miss your appointment, you will need to reschedule based on our next available appointment times. We will not be able to fit you if there are no sooner appointments available. It’s important that you make a good faith effort to attend your appointment on the scheduled date and time.
  • If you repeatedly miss appointments without contacting us, we reserve the right to discontinue assistance so that we can make the best use of our limited resources.
  • While we love animals, we prefer that pets not be brought inside the Rescue so that we do not disturb the cats currently in our care. If bringing an animal inside is necessary, they must be secured in a carrier or on a leash and harness for their safety and the safety of the animals in the Rescue.

Thank you for helping us make the Stay SAFe Pet Pantry accessible to as many members of our community as possible.

Monthly Supply Pickups

Our Monthly Supply Pickup program is intended for clients who need more substantial, ongoing supplemental assistance for their pets.

Supply Pickups are available once every 30 days and must be scheduled ahead of time. For these pickups, we try to provide a supplemental month’s worth of food and supplies based on your household’s needs and what we currently have available.

Because Monthly Supply Pickups are prepared specifically for you, they also give us more opportunity to accommodate individual requests. You can let us know what types of food and supplies you need, as well as any particular preferences or requests you have for your pets. We cannot guarantee that we will have every requested item, brand, flavor, or formula, but we will do our best to accommodate your request or provide an appropriate substitute from our available donations.

If you are already a Pet Pantry client, you do not need to complete another application each month. Contact us with the supplies you are requesting and we will work with you to schedule your next appointment.

Please plan ahead when requesting supplies. Appointments are often booked one to two weeks in advance, and we may not be able to accommodate requests for emergency supplies on short notice.

If you need to cancel or change your appointment, please let us know before your scheduled pickup so that we can make that appointment available to another community member.

If you are a new client seeking assistance, please use the form below to apply for support:

Drop-By Hours

Thursdays, 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Seattle Area Feline Rescue
20226 Ballinger Way NE
Shoreline, WA 98155

Please make sure you show up on time, we serve individuals until 3:00 p.m. but we cannot guarantee to accomodate individuals who arrive after 2:50 p.m.

Drop-By Hours are a weekly option for community members who need a smaller amount of food or basic supplies to help get their pets through the week.

Unlike Monthly Supply Pickups, supplies for Drop-By Hours are packed and prepared ahead of time. Because of this, we can only offer the items we have prepared and available during Drop-By Hours.

Our full range of Pet Pantry supplies may not be available during Drop-By Hours, and we have much less ability to accommodate specific requests for brands, flavors, formulas, or particular items. What is available will vary from week to week based on donations and current inventory.

If you need a larger quantity of supplies or have more specific needs for your pets, a scheduled Monthly Supply Pickup will generally allow us to work more closely with your request.

Please do not come to the Rescue for Pet Pantry supplies outside of Thursday Drop-By Hours unless you have a scheduled Supply Pickup appointment. Staff will not be able to distribute supplies outside of these designated times.
