October Volunteer of the Month: Kat

SAFe Rescue is proud to share our October Volunteer of the Month: Kat!

Kat has been supporting SAFe for over a year and has completed over 200 volunteer hours throughout that time! Her roles have included Front Desk volunteer and, more currently, as an Adoption Counselor. The Adoption Counseling volunteer position assists potential adopters with finding their purr-fect fit and Kat comes with her own SAFe adoption experience which helps her better support our community. “I adopted my 4 kitties from SAFe. Natasha and Oliver are 10 years old, and PJ and Rugar are 7 years old. I adopted Natasha and Oliver from your 1st location on 45th Street and I adopted PJ and Rugar from the current location. I am looking forward to being a part of the new location with even more room for the kitties”.

For Kat, the best part about volunteering with SAFe is being with the cats both to care for them and to make their human matches! In fact, her best memory with the Rescue was completing her first adoption as an official volunteer Adoption Counselor. Kat does not limit herself to house pets either, she also volunteers at the Woodland Park Zoo as a Zoo Ambassador. In her spare time away from caring for animals, Kat also likes to keep up with her exercise and interest! “I am retired now so I spend my time doing Jazzercise 3-4 times a week. I like to paint (paint by numbers). I have a small garden and I hang out with my kitties, my fish, and Shaun [her partner]. I also love to cook. Plus, if there is enough snow, I make snow kitties!”

Here’s to another 200 hours of saving lives, Kat!
