Helping kitties, one story at a time!

Volunteers in reading programs are able to use their developing reading skills to comfort the cats and alleviate any stresses they may encounter in a shelter setting. This helps them as they get ready to move on from the Adoption Center and into loving homes!

Requirements and Details: 

• Ages 6-12 with an adult – 1 youth reader per adult companion
• Groups are limited to two sessions per year 
• SAFe can host 6 duos of readers and their adults per date
• Books for all ages will be provided but readers are welcome to bring their books of choice!

Cat petting: We will not be able to facilitate social visits with the cats at this time so while we will be working next to the kitties as we learn to read, we will not be touching them directly. This is to limit any forms of disease and illness as well as injury to any humans or cats.
