Shasta
Shasta started being fostered at just seven weeks old. It didn’t take long for her foster home to notice she was a “pistol” who was “both shy and fearless.” Hours of zoomies later, Shasta’s foster family was officially smitten with this kitten and had their heart set on adopting her. There was just one snag—she needed a buddy to go home with!
Shasta (left) is a real bundle of energy, while Yoda (right) is a champion of chill. Shasta needed a companion, and Yoda was happy to show Shasta the importance of taking breaks in between playtimes!
Yoda
About one week after Shasta first went to foster care, a couple going fishing in Central Washington stumbled upon a litter of kittens and their mama in the bushes. The babies looked to be about three months old.The fuzzy family was brought to SAFe for a fresh start, and that’s where Shasta’s adopter found the tiny orange tabby that would become Shasta’s brother.
Shasta + Yoda
After a brief transition period, Shasta and the newly-renamed Yoda were eager playmates. While Shasta was full of spunk and enthusiasm, Yoda brought a calm and grounding dynamic to the pair, much like the Jedi he was named after. Together with the resident dog, these furry friends are an example of how tight-knit found families can be!
Today, Yoda and Shasta are inseparable!
Where Are They Meow
Shasta and Yoda were both adopted in October 2024. In November, we got this report from their adopter:
“All is well here. Yoda does a great job looking for trouble, and every morning I create some “safe trouble.” Shasta admires her older brother. They seem to be connected. Where you find one, you find another. We’re gelling as a family.”
Followed by their most recent update in December:
“Just want to thank you for the gift of these two amazing kittens. Yoda is teaching his little sister what it means to be a cat.”
It brings us so much joy to read about (and admire photos of) Shasta and Yoda’s overlapping adoption journeys. We love that this dynamic duo brings out the best in each other, and we thank their adopter for the patience and love they put into caring for them both. Thanks for keeping us up to date on the adventures of Shasta and Yoda!
