The SAFe Rescue Team is proud to announce a $7,500 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love earlier this year.
Petco Love is a national nonprofit leading change for pets by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested $400 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts.
Petco Love also helps find loving homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 other animal welfare organizations—like ours—across North America. Altogether, Petco Love programs have distributed 3 million vaccines, facilitated over 7 million adoptions, and reunited 75,000 pets with their families.
“Support from Petco Love has been invaluable during SAFe’s first full year open in our new location,” says Emily Sprong, SAFe’s Executive Director. “Amidst a challenging fundraising climate, with costs up in all areas, and increasing demand for our services, Petco Love’s generosity has helped us take in 63 cats with ringworm this year.”
Twelve-year-old Stuart is one of the many cats to benefit from Petco Love’s support. An affectionate purr machine, Stuart charmed all who encountered him at the Rescue. But when he first came in, he was in bad medical shape.

“Without Petco Love’s support, cats like Stuart, who was treated for ringworm and a host of other medical issues, may not have been able to receive the care he needed to recover and find a loving home,” Sprong says. “We are so grateful for Petco Love’s support and all they do to help pets in need and the people who love them.”
